Kurt's Hike: Oct. 14, 2012

Grayson tries to master the water bladder at the end of the hike as Lily smiles at having done the walk.

With a young lady of 6 and a young man of 2 along for the day, you can't expect to get too much mileage in on a hike.

And while Lily characterized it as a "long" hike, Grayson--riding on my shoulders all but the first 30 feet in and the last 30 feet out--offered no opinion, though he did point enthusiastically at the stream several times: "Water!"

There were lots of people out on this popular trail on a pretty fall day, drawn by the easy walk to a nice spot to pause for some cheese popcorn and then head back down.

Roaring Run Creekside Trail to falls and back. 1.2 miles.

How to get there: U.S. 220 north from Eagle Rock to left on Va. 615 and then right on 621 to parking area.
