Sausage balls have been my family’s favorite appetizer for years. We mostly break them out for the holidays, but these babies are perfect for tailgating and the Super Bowl party I just attended.
The classic ingredients are sausage, sharp cheddar cheese and Bisquick. But I added a twist this time, throwing in some delicious cream cheese. Yum! The smell coming from my oven as the sausage balls cooked was amazing. My almost 2-year-old was begging for one before I could even let them cool down.
Sausage Balls
- 1 lb. mild or hot sausage
- 8 oz. sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 4 oz. cream cheese
- 1 ½ cups Bisquick
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Combine sausage and cheeses first. Add the Bisquick in small batches (wet your hands a little if the mixture is not combining well).
Roll mixture into balls and place on a sheet tray. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
