Sharon Morris Kincheloe, Painter
Painter Sharon Morris Kincheloe has been drawing since high school, and then studied it in college. After living in Tidewater for 10 years, where she worked as a graphic artist, Kincheloe and her husband Allen, who handles her matting and framing, returned home to the Blue Ridge mountains. The area’s beautiful wildflowers became the subjects of the botanical renderings for which she became well known. For the last five years, she has worked primarily in oils.
“I prefer plein air paintings,” she says, “where I work in the landscape, using natural light.” As we peruse her paintings, we recognize familiar landscapes from the area.
Kincheloe’s works are on display at various local galleries and shops, including Local Colors in Staunton. She works from her home studio, also in Staunton. Examples of her work can be found at www.sharonkincheloe.com.
