Sheila Kay Adams shares stories from the small mountain community in Western North Carolina where she was born, and passes on the rich musical heritage of her ancestors. An accomplished banjo player and seventh generation ballad singer, she is also an author of several books and recordings. Her many awards include North Carolina’s highest award for the arts, the North Carolina Heritage Award, and the nation’s highest honor in the folk and traditional arts, the National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellowship Award. Adams has performed across the nation and abroad, including appearances at the National Book and Smithsonian Folklife Festivals. “A delightful raconteur of mountain life.
