Sheep Shearing Day
to
Museum of Appalachia 2819 Andersonville Highway, Clinton, Tennessee 37716
The Museum of Appalachia is happy to commemorate a timeless tradition in history- sheep shearing. In pioneer Appalachia, farmers sheared their wooly companions each spring for wool to spin into yarn or to fill quilts. The museum will renew this ritual on April 25, trimming the winter's growth of heavy wool from its flock of sheep. Spinning, weaving and quilting demonstrators will explain how the wool was acquired and utilized.
