Lake Lure Olympiad - Race to the Rock 25 Mile Bike Race

Just like the 5K run, this event is unique in that athletes choose one or the other, but both races end with an intense 7-9% grade incline that finishes at the base of 315-foot-tall Chimney Rock. Again, it’s your only chance to run or cycle up to Chimney Rock all year.

The 25-Mile Bike event begins bright and early at 7:30 AM just outside the Chimney Rock Park entrance, traveling 22 miles. It starts east on 64/74A, turns left onto Bills Creek Road by the Library, left again onto Buffalo Creek Road by Dalton’s Store and eventually merges into Buffalo Shoals Road along Lake Lure’s eastern shore. It re-enters Route 64/74A with a right turn back to quaint Chimney Rock Village, where a left turn into the park entrance starts your last 3 epic miles straight up to Chimney Rock.
