Highlands Hike to Blanton Forest

Enjoy a hiking adventure to explore this diverse ecological treasure located on Pine Mountain's southeastern slope.  A virtual time capsule, the 3,124-acre Blanton Forest is one of eastern America's largest old-growth forests.  Here, towering, centuries-old trees harbor a variety of forest communities, including the mixed-mesophytic deciduous forest with many kinds of canopy trees, like sugar maple, tulip poplar, hemlock, beech, assorted oaks, and several species of magnolia.
