Cherokee Heritage Festival

Enjoy Cherokee art, demonstrations, music, storytelling, children's activities, frybread, stickball game, and dancing during the Cherokee Heritage Festival held at our outdoor 17th century Cherokee Homestead Exhibit. You may also like to visit the other sites along the 2-mile Quanassee Path: A Cherokee History Trail: Clay County Museum, Cherokee Cultural Center, Spikebuck Mound, and Cherokee Botanical Sanctuary while in Hayesville.

The trail was named for Quanassee, a once-thriving Valley River Town situated on the banks of the Hiwassee River, and an important stop along a trading route stretching from Charleston, South Carolina to eastern Tennessee.
