Earthquakes, Geology, and Trekking in the Himalaya
REI Presents:
Earthquakes, Geology, and Trekking in the Himalaya
Earthquakes, Geology, and Trekking in the Himalaya. Michael Follo, a former UNC-Chapel Hill geology professor, and his wife Deb Caughron, a long-time North Carolina Outward Bound School instructor and administrator, will describe their recent adventures in the Khumbu region of Nepal, where they were part of a group of friends trekking into Pumori and Everest base camps. Michael & Deb will share their photos and stories from this trek-of-a-lifetime, including scenery, Nepalese culture, and trekking logistics. Michael will also talk about the geology of the Himalaya and the devastating 2015 earthquakes in the region. If you’re interested in trekking to Everest or elsewhere in the Himalaya–or simply want to learn more about this remarkable region–this promises to be an entertaining and informative evening!
