Akira has titled the show, “This Functional Family: Potters of Western North Carolina” which will be on display from November 6th through January 9th, 2015. Participating artists include: Reiko Miyagi, Becky Lloyd, Courtney Martin, Shane Mickey, Naomi Dalglish & Michael Hunt, Michael Kline, Linda

McFarling, Kyle Carpenter, Judith Duff, and Akira Satake. We are pleased to be able to host this collection of ceramic works from an exceedingly talented group of local artists.

Akira states: “Western North Carolina is rich in studio pottery traditions that go back for generations. At the same time, new artists are constantly coming to the area, being inspired, and bringing along their own traditions and styles. Today the region boasts one of the most vibrant functional ceramic arts communities in America. ‘This Functional Family’ will provide an exciting taste of what some of the region’s finest and most unique potters are doing now and give exhibition goers the opportunity to bring some of Western North Carolina’s creative spirit into their own homes.”
