40th Annual Mountain Makins Festival

Now in its 40th year, Mountain Makins is a folk life festival celebrating the traditions of Appalachia through music, dance, fine art, a juried crafts show and sale, storytelling, traditional skill demonstrations, children's activities, and plenty of good food. The festival is held in and on the grounds of the Rose Center, an 1892 school building which now serves as the cultural arts hub of the Lakeway Area. Admission to the festival is $5.00 with all proceeds supporting the programs of the Center.
