With a young lady of 6 and a young man of 2 along for the day, you can’t expect to get too much mileage in on a hike.
And while Lily characterized it as a “long” hike, Grayson–riding on my shoulders all but the first 30 feet in and the last 30 feet out–offered no opinion, though he did point enthusiastically at the stream several times: “Water!”
There were lots of people out on this popular trail on a pretty fall day, drawn by the easy walk to a nice spot to pause for some cheese popcorn and then head back down.
Roaring Run Creekside Trail to falls and back. 1.2 miles.
How to get there: U.S. 220 north from Eagle Rock to left on Va. 615 and then right on 621 to parking area.
