John C Campbell Folk School 1 Folk School Road, Brasstown, North Carolina 28902
In the early 1920's, Olive Dame Campbell, her sister Daisy, and friend Marguerite Butler spent a year visiting folk schools in Norway, Sweden, and Finland, but they were most influenced by the folk schools of Denmark. Olive was convinced that a Danish style school should be tried here, and in 1925 John C. Campbell Folk School was founded. Join us this week and immerse yourself in Scandinavian life as you enjoy special food, music, dance and craft from this fascinating part of the world.
