Sky Meadows State Park 11012 Edmonds Lane, Delaplane, Virginia 20144
The tiny larvae of the Emerald Ash borer has decimated ash trees along the Blue Ridge, leaving few seed-producing trees and endangering forest ecosystems. Our conservation efforts and resiliency bring hope that live, seed producing ash can be found and maintained at Sky Meadows to propagate future generations of ash in our forests. Join us in the first step of this effort by marking viable ash trees and collecting seeds. Learn how these efforts relate to the park's chestnut orchard in partnership with the American Chestnut Foundation.
No experience is necessary to participate. Hiking is involved, so please prepare by bringing comfortable walking shoes, insect repellent and water.
$10/car park entrance fee.
