Starry skies at Sky Meadows
Historic Area behind Mount Bleak.
Our evenings begin with a half-hour children's "Junior Astronomer" program, followed by a discussion about the importance of dark skies and light conservation. Then join NASA Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) Ambassadors for a presentation on the latest news in astronomy. Visitors should bring their own lawn chairs and/or blankets. Next, get oriented to the celestial skies with a brief sky tour. Finish the evening by relaxing and enjoying the beautiful night sky. Feel free to bring your telescope or binoculars for your own exploration. Telescope and binocular sharing are discouraged as a health and safety precaution to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Details: $10/car parking fee. Entrance gates close one hour after program start time or when program attendance reaches 100 participants.
Program adjustments in response to COVID-19: Participation will be limited to 100 people. Park gates and admittance to the program area will close when this limit is reached. Social distancing is required, and facemasks are strongly encouraged. In the event of rain or cloudy conditions, the program will be canceled.
