Role Reversal in Design
Workshop: Role Reversal in Design taught by Heather Allen Hietala
In conjunction with the exhibition CONVERGENCE / DIVERGENCE: Exploring Black Mountain College and Chicago’s New Bauhaus/Institute of Design, the Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center in downtown Asheville presents a design workshop taught by Asheville-based artist Heather Allen Hietala.
Workshop Description:
This workshop will focus on the power and magic of the Japanese design principal of Notan. We will explore the interaction between positive and negative space, between a shape and it’s background, and the complementary principals of yin and yang. Using black and white paper, we will play with negative and positive creating exciting and dynamic designs in paper. IN the manner of Matisse we will draw with scissors, innovative materials will provide an unexpected dimension to our pieces. Space is limited. Call 828-350-8484 to register.
