Capitalism v. Democracy
Capitalism v. Democracy: Money in Politics and the Free Market Constitution
The 2016 presidential elections are on course to be the most expensive in history. Ordinary citizens are utterly excluded by this plutocratic system that attempts to pass itself off as democracy. Rather than government “of, by and for the people,” we now live under an oppressive regime of government of, by and for the wealthy.
Author Tim Kuhner will explain how the Supreme Court has constructed this system and prevented citizens from changing it. Kuhner’s Capitalism v. Democracy is a radical exposé of legalized corruption in the United States.
Thomas Piketty, author of Capital in the Twenty-First Century, wrote, “This book made me realize just how dangerous supreme courts can be for matters of inequality and democracy.” The Harvard Law Review called it “convincing…impressive [and] timely.” Kuhner has presented his book throughout Europe and the United States and he is eager to connect with Ashevillians. In conclusion, he will present a revolutionary idea for reforming the system and making elections, candidates, and political parties accountable to the people.
