Winter paid the Blue Ridge Parkway a visit last Sunday, as I was fortunate to capture amazing rime ice everywhere in the high elevations, including here on the Craggy Pinnacle Trail, milepost 364. I've taken so many photographs over the last 2 months that I'm finally getting caught up on checking out some of my shots from on our Static Brothers trip to West Virginia a couple weeks ago. Our last day there we got up at 4 am for some Goetta and Eggs for breakfast and made the 45 minute drive to Grandview in the New River Gorge. When we arrived the gorge was full of fog and a hint of deep red had emerged far off in the distance, but not only did the color quickly fade, so did the fog closest to where we were shooting. My good friend Bryan Janosick and I had perched ourselves at the North Overlook, since there was much more room there if other photographers had already set up, but to our joy we were the only ones who had arrived. Hoping for a post sunrise show, we got some really cool light peeking through the clouds illuminating the fog in the valley. I've been experimenting with sunbursts of late and although this wasn't exactly what I wanted I still liked it. Talking outside of photography there really is nothing like standing cliff side here and watching the changing conditions as a sunrise approaches and happens. It's truly one of the gems of the Mountain State and one of my favorite places to start my day with good friends.Christmas is just around the corner! Prints are available for most images! Feel free to look around on my Facebook page or visit my website www.fultzfotos.com for a great holiday gift idea for that loved one in your life!
