Grandfather Mtn
Hikers tackle the ridges on Grandfather Mountain, in Linville, N.C.
So a fun little element on our newly redesigned website is our POLL. We've just closed our first and put up a second (scroll down to bottom of splash page to tell us what you love most about summer in the mountains). For our first poll, we had more than 200 votes for readers' favorite Blue Ridge Parkway stops, and the results are in...
• Grandfather Mountain, Linville, N.C. (off Blue Ridge Parkway milepost 305) came out on top, with 27 percent of the votes.
• Mabry Mill (MP 176.1) in Virginia was a close second, with 24 percent of votes.
• Peaks of Otter (MP 86) in Virginia was next at 20 percent.
North Carolina destinations Little Switzerland (off MP 334), the Folk Art Center (MP 382) and Moses Cone Manor were 4th, 5th and 6th most popular, respectively.
Our polling software doesn't allow for "fill in the blank" votes, so if your favorite wasn't on the list, please add it to the comments below!
We're also hearing lots from you through our Facebook page – if you're a Facebooker, keep an eye out for our weekly queries and post your feedback, and I'll share the results in this blog. Stay tuned for the first – a reading list from our readers.
