The annual Virginia Covered Bridge Festival will be hosted in Woolwine, Virginia between Jacks Creek and Bob White Covered Bridges. In 2007 Patrick County was named the official state location for the Virginia Covered Bridge Festival.
Virginia Covered Bridge Festival is always the third Saturday in June... commencing at 10 am, ending at 4 pm. Events at sites adjacent to Jacks Creek Bridge and Bob White Bridge will include; live music at both locations, a variety of 4 bands at Jacks Creek Covered Bridge site, and 4 traditional bands at the Bob White Covered Bridge site; a 5-K Run; horse and wagon rides; Cruise-In of antique and unique vehicles; a "duck" race in the river; arts, craft, and food vendors; activities for children including petting zoo and inflatable bouncer; free admission and free available parking. The festival is hosted by the Woolwine Ruritans, Woolwine VFD, and Smith River Rescue Squad, and manned by community volunteers, and is held for the purpose of showcasing Woolwine's heritage.
With only seven public Covered Bridges in the state of Virginia, Woolwine proudly celebrates two of those historic Covered Bridges within a mile of each other.....travel between the Covered Bridges in a horse-drawn wagon and enjoy the beautiful Virginia scenery!
