We can especially use more images from Kentucky and South Carolina as well as our other coverage states: Virginia, West Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina.
PHOTO ESSAYS
The photo essay remains a prominent, reader-favorite feature in each issue. These are the primary opportunities for photographers to have their work featured on a paid basis.
We also occasionally publish shorter photo essays highlighting new photography books or gallery and museum exhibitions. These are offered as a trade: photographers receive editorial exposure, including a brief profile, website link, and contact information, and we receive content that introduces our readers to new work.
If you have a book coming out, a gallery show on the horizon, or would like to be considered for a photo essay, email editor Sarah Riddell at sriddell@vistamediainc.com.
We will also continue purchasing photography for covers and feature stories. The photo essay represents only four to six pages of each issue, so please keep those image submissions coming!
For those applying for editorial feature consideration, please submit the following:
- Short bio including prior publication, recognitions, and awards and description of current professional work
- Artist’s statement (what and why I shoot)
- Submission of 20-30 images high resolution (highest file size available) via email or OneDrive/Google Drive link with brief caption information
- Photo of photographer, also high resolution

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Blue Ridge Country buys one-time North American rights, with said rights including use of photos on company promotional materials and on its website. We require a one-year exclusivity on any image appearing on BRC covers before it is submitted elsewhere. We do not acknowledge as binding the terms of individual photographers’ submittal forms. BRC pays upon publication.
Submissions should be high resolution photos submitted via email either as attachments or OneDrive/Google Drive links. Accepted file types include .jpgs, .tiffs, or photos in .pdf files.
Please clearly label and include cutlines/captions and identifying information for all photos, especially specific geography (where/when the photo was shot). Any full-facial photos of people must have releases or permission.
