Valley History Explorer Moderate Hike Series Interest Meeting
Learn about our moderate hiking series, the Valley History Explorer Series during this free informational meeting. The Valley History Explorer Hiking Series offers the opportunity to revisit the past of the unique communities that make up the Swannanoa Valley through 8 moderate, 3-mile hikes. The meeting will provide an introduction to the program offerings, details about the individual hikes, advice for hikers, and information about our scholarships. Register for a hike or an entire series. The first hike in the series - Bee Tree - on Saturday, March 10 - will take hikers to the peak of Watch Knob to learn about the first settlement in the Swannanoa Valley, where the name Bee Tree originated, and some of the theories behind the mysterious smoke sometimes seen wafting from the top of the mountain.
