LITTLE RIVER POTENTIAL WILDERNESS AREA - 2
to
Little River Park 8220 South Main Street, Helen, Georgia 30545
Join Wild Virginia for the second of 4 monthly hikes in what is the largest Potential Wilderness Area in the eastern United States, Little River. This 7.5 mile loop trail is challenging on many levels.
The elevation gain is from 2000’-3720’. This is not an outing for the faint of spirit or for the inexperienced hiker. It is also a trail frequented by mountain bikers so we will need to be aware of sharing the trail. But if you are in good shape and want to experience some of the best mid-mountain terrain on Shenandoah Mountain, this hike is for you.
We plan on leaving Charlottesville at 8am, rendezvous in Staunton at 8:45 and arrive at the trailhead on Tillman Road by 10am. Hikers can plan to meet at any of these three points. We plan on returning to Charlottesville by 7:00pm.
