FAMILY FUN:
AN ARTISTIC RENDEZVOUS

(As referenced from 2006 Almanac)

Buisson Arts Center in Dahlonega is fairly new in town but an extremely busy place to be. Housed in two downtown buildings covering a city block (including a former 1897 church now a music hall), the center has year-round classes and concerts for all ages. For children, after school workshops create a fun time for learning more about art with classes in color theory and never-dull activities such as creating papier mache sculptures. The performing arts are taught in children’s theatre workshops and classes.

Visitors to the center are not left out of the learning process. Center Director Bogy Patton says there are resident artists at the center.

“Just stroll the gallery and you’ll see the artists working,” Patton says. Artists Rendezvous, a once-a-month design challenge, is “a way for families to see artists’ interpretation of a different theme each month, watch artists creating on the premises and view the completed art which is set up around town square,” says Patton.
