This first place shot of Elk River Falls in Elk Park, N.C. was taken during an October trip to the area.

We asked our readers to submit their images of our beautiful region in autumn. And they certainly delivered! Stunning photographs of foliage, wildlife and mountain scenery made it tough for our staff to choose the winners. Thank you to all of our entrants and congratulations to our three winners.
