Old Glory's 100th Anniversary on Chimney Rock

xactly 100 years ago the first American flag was raised on Chimney Rock and the park was dedicated by Lucius B. Morse on July 04, 1916.
Starting at 7:30 am, enter the park early to catch a special ceremony as the North Carolina state flag joins Old Glory, on its centennial birthday here at Chimney Rock State Park.
Admission fees will be waived for the first 100 cars during this early opening, from 7:30 until 8:30 am.
This special is limited to the first 100 cars to enter the park, no buses or RVs allowed for early entry.
All others will need to pay regular admission fees.
The flag dedication will begin at 8:30 am.
