Guns and Hoses Hockey returns to the Roanoke Civic Center for its 10th anniversary game on January 4, 2013 at 7:30 pm. In nine years this charity hockey match has pitted the local fire and police departments against one another to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Last year’s attendance of 6,100 was record-setting and the public is invited to come support their hometown heroes by packing the house and wearing red or blue to this year’s game. The suggested admission is $5.
The Guns and Hoses Charity Hockey game has raised over $100,000 for the local MDA and last year’s game brought in $27,000 through donations and special “fill the boot” donations. This special event fundraiser is made possible by sponsorship through many community businesses and support from local sports enthusiasts.
