Reader Submitted Fall Photos 2012

Morning fog rising on the Lake Moomaw. Through the fog the stumps on the dried ground look like alien creatures on some distant planet.

The colors are changing in Russell County as the leaves are beginning to fall.

Peggy's photos were taken in Ohio, but we couldn't help but love the fall color!

Boone Fork Trail

Foot Bridge Over Mingo Falls, which is called Big Bear Falls in the Cherokee language, cascades 200 feet nearly down granite boulders. Just north of the entrance of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park on Big Cove Road (past several big campgrounds). The beautiful 1/4-mile hike to the falls along the rushing stream is short,I have counted 159 steps that leads you to the foot bridge. Once on the footbridge you can look up and see this impressive 200 foot cascade of water.

The Sand Cave, located near Ewing, Va and Cumberland Gap National Park. The 9 mile loop hike also features White Rocks overlook, with great views of Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia.
