A native Virginian, she grew up six miles from Shenandoah National Park and has been writing on the history, people and outdoor recreation of the southern Appalachians for more than 10 years. Her publication credits include AAA World, Women's Health, Ladies' Home Journal, Preservation, The Progressive Farmer, Military Officer, Virginia Living and Baltimore Magazine.
