SCOTT TEMPLETON APPOINTED SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT AND PUBLISHER OF VIRGINIA TRAVEL GUIDE AND BLUE RIDGE COUNTRY MAGAZINE

Leisure Publishing Company of Roanoke, Va. has appointed Scott R. Templeton, former publisher for the state travel guides in Tennessee, Louisiana and West Virginia, as senior vice president and publisher of the Virginia Travel Guide and Blue Ridge Country magazine.

Templeton's 20-plus years of experience in working with state, regional and local visitor publications have established him as one of the South's leading travel publishing experts. He has served on the board of Southeast Tourism Society, won the Gladiator Award as Tennessee's outstanding tourism professional and has an award-winning track record in hiring and training sales professionals.

"We're pleased and fortunate to have Scott on board," said Leisure President and CEO Richard Wells. "His proven record for growing sales and generating more industry involvement with state-sponsored travel guides are hallmarks of an extremely successful career in tourism to date. We look forward to more of the same as Scott brings his considerable talents to Leisure Publishing."

Templeton will focus his efforts on the award-winning regional Blue Ridge Country as it enters its 25th anniversary year in 2013, and on increasing industry participation in the Virginia Travel Guide, which Leisure has published in cooperation with the Virginia Tourism Corporation over the past decade-plus.

"The opportunities for both these publications are exciting and nearly endless," said Templeton. "In terms of staff on board, of existing business relationships and of growth potential, both are poised for great strides in the coming years."

During his previous stint with Leisure Publishing, from 2000 to 2005, Templeton headed the company's LeisureSouth division, creating new print products to serve the Southern Mountains. He will also seek out new business in his current appointment.

Templeton, who will work from the Leisure offices in Roanoke and from his home in Piney Flats, Tenn., attended the University of Tennessee and continues to suffer from a very bad case of Vols Fever.
