She is a figure painter but experiments with other subjects. The surface of the paper is "as important in her work as the subject." Gari likes texture and uses a limited palette concentrating on "lights and darks." She is a Signature Member of the Virginia Watercolor Society and received "Best in Show" awards in 2003 and 2005.
